Identity & Vision

The name of our congregation is Twenty Six Eight, taken from the verse in Isaiah 26:8. From the four phrases in this verse, we have taken our identity and vision.

Yes, LORD
Walking in the way of your laws
We wait for you
Your name and renown are the desire of our hearts

Yes, LORD

The Hebrew word translated LORD is Yahweh. It is a name God gave to Himself to remind us He is self-existent and eternally present to help those who trust in Him (Exodus 3:15,16). Life begins and ends with Him; there is nothing before or after Him. We deliberately pursue the eternal, self-existent God revealed perfectly in the person of Jesus Christ because He is the source of all life and meaning.

Walking in the Way of Your Laws

This phrase describes a lifestyle in which God’s nature and character is imprinted on every aspect of our being. By His grace and power, Jesus restores us to the image and identity we were originally given when He created us. As we experience reconciliation with God and our identity is restored, we are empowered to be obedient to His ways and walk in the spiritual authority and dominion He originally intended for us.

We are dedicated to becoming like and following Jesus in all we are and do. Disciple is the word used most often in the Bible to describe those who followed Jesus. We are learning to give ourselves to Him to live as His disciples.

We believe our trust in Jesus enables us to have a new relationship with God and His people. Through His grace, we have been invited to participate in the gracious agreements He made with His people. These agreements are called covenants and through them, we receive His life and blessing. Each covenant God has made with His people has special provisions, promises, and responsibilities. As a congregation, we are striving to embrace the gracious provision and promises as well as the instruction and responsibility outlined in His covenants.

We Wait For You

The story of God’s eternal purposes begins and ends with us dwelling with Him. Before sin entered into the world, Adam and Eve walked with God in the Garden because they were untainted and completely pure (Genesis 3:8). And, in the end of all things, God promises He would dwell with us, He would be our God, and we would be His special people (Revelation 21:3). God’s desire from beginning to end is for us to experience a life-giving, eternal connection to Him. To wait on God literally means to bound up with Him like the strands of a rope are intertwined. We are committed to seeking and dwelling in God’s presence now and for all eternity.

Even more, we believe God promised to give His supernatural power to us so we could become like Jesus in every aspect of our being and do what He did while He was on the earth. To be like Jesus relationally, morally, intellectually, spiritually–to be like Him in every way–is a supernatural and miraculous work of His presence. To do what Jesus did is also a supernatural and miraculous work. And we believe God wants to work in and through us to be and do miracles.

Your Name and Renown Are the Desires of Our Heart

Our ultimate hope and purpose is to show the world how amazing and beautiful God and His Son Jesus are. No one and nothing is more satisfying. We are relentlessly committed to delighting in the goodness of God and showing others fulfillment is found only in Jesus. So, we have dedicated our lives to bring His beauty and salvation to those who do not yet know how glorious and satisfying He is. We want the people and nations of the world to know Jesus not only loves them, but if they will come to Him, He will give them abundant and eternal life.
